What people are saying about Mercy Road Quartet

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Pastor, Garry Polston

Regarding the first annual Jim B. Polston Memorial Concert 8.22.2009 held in Russell Springs, Ky.

Here is an excerpt from brother Garry's website...

"I brought on Mercy Road and these guys were hitting on all cylinders. Their stage appearance was professional, their sound was big and full, their love for God and each other was easy to see and Mark Smith is an awesome Emcee. When their tenor Gene Miller sang Till the Storm Passes By, the place erupted not only out of respect for his great singing, but the spirit in which he sang it. He had to encore the song and once again nobody wanted them to leave the stage".

Jim Hamill Tribute

  Jim Hamill

  Inducted 2004
Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame

Jim Hamill, one of Southern Gospel's all-    time  great lead singers, has been singing professionally 52 years.

(Double Click Picture to Hear Tribute to Jim Hamill)

Listen to what “Big” Jim had to say about “Mercy Road”:

“I met Smitty (Mark Smith) a few years back when I booked a weekend with The Impacts, his son’s quartet. Mark was filling in for Hovie Walker on the bass. We hit it off right away. I told him he reminded me of that actor in the Tarzan movies and he said who, Johnny Weismueller?  I said no the “MONKEY” we have been friends ever since.”

“I liked Mark’s voice and I told him he needed to be singing with a group instead of filling in. Well, he finally listened to me and sent me a “Mercy Road” CD and I got to tell you these guys are good! Be sure and go hear them when they come to your area.”

“I look forward to working with you guys real soon.”
Sincerely,
Hamill

5:30am today "Big" Jim Hamill was transported by Angels to that place he has sung about for so many years.

Mercy Road Quartet is saddened by the loss of a great man!

"If there ever was an encourager in Southern Gospel music it

had to be my friend, Jim Hamill". Jim would do anything he

could to help anyone and it mattered not that you were unable to return the favor.

We will miss you!

Smitty

The Legendary Kingsmen Quartet

Even though this was a staged publicity shot, it's a lot

closer to the truth than you might think.  Jim Hamill and

most members of the Kingsmen loved golf almost as

much as they loved singing.

Mr. Ed Hill - Oct. 7, 2009 SGMA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Ed needs no introduction to those in the gospel music industry.

To those outside the industry, I'm sure that you will remember

his words..."Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building."

Yes, Ed stood behind Elvis Presley for many years while singing

baratone with the late, great JD Sumner & The Stamps Quartet.

Thank you Mercy Road Quartet for coming."
